Sept. 25 (UPI) – Four years ago, Thailand broke the record for the world’s largest popcorn machine and Google celebrated the milestone on Wednesday with an interactive doodle.

The image shows three kernels of corn on an overflowing popcorn bucket. On either side are a stick of butter and a salt shaker. They seem to be staring at each other.

When viewers click the Play button, they are taken to a game.

“Compete against 59 players to be the last one standing unpopped,” the instructions say.

Players can choose whether they want to compete “solo” or in a “team”.

The doodle was created to commemorate the history of popcorn.

The snack was first enjoyed as a breakfast cereal in the USA in the 19th century.

“The origins of popcorn date back to the early 16th century,” the Doodle description reads. “Because corn was such a common crop in Mesoamerican civilizations, many cultures made popcorn and used it to decorate their ceremonial garments.”
