So far, no arrests have been reported, said a police spokeswoman. According to police, investigators searched three apartments in Munich overnight where the wanted 30-year-old was believed to be.

The investigators found clothing that the man was “most likely” wearing during the crime.

The police are conducting an “intensive” public search for the Pole using a surveillance camera recording at the crime scene in the Old Botanical Garden. According to the police, he is not registered with a permanent address in Germany.

An autopsy of the 57-year-old man who was killed has since revealed that he had been injured by kicks, including to the head.

Video recordings had indicated a violent argument on Wednesday morning. A short time later, the man was found seriously injured at the Neptune Fountain and later died.

Initially, the police were looking for a larger group of suspects, and later two men were arrested. One of the two was only questioned as a witness, the police said. The other was charged with assault and released.

The wanted 30-year-old, however, is considered the main suspect and is being investigated for homicide.

The Old Botanical Garden has long been considered a crime hotspot in the Bavarian capital, and the city’s own task force was responsible for security in the part of the park that is considered a drug trafficking hub.
