Gaetz gives final response to House Ethics Committee investigation · The Floridian

Although he was cleared of wrongdoing without any charges being filed against him, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is still under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, to which he recently gave his final response, describing the whole matter as “a political retaliation without any wrongdoing” meant due process, full of leaks and now searching for deeply personal information that is none of Congress’ business.”

To recap: An ally of Rep. Gaetz, Joel Greenberg, was charged and convicted of sex trafficking of a minor in 2020. The Florida congressman was accused of being involved in the incident and of having relations with the minor the following year, which he vehemently denied .

Additionally, Rep. Gaetz presented strong evidence that he and his family were victims of an extortion scheme masterminded by former Department of Justice (DOJ) official David McGee, with Greenberg and the minor who was a victim of Greenberg as accomplices acted.

“The committee’s star witness, Joel Greenberg, is a criminal liar who implicates others in his lies,” Gaetz posted on to reduce his sentence.

“On July 10, 2024, I provided the Committee with clear evidence of my innocence by providing a prison-era “smoking gun” letter documenting the conspiracy against me involving both Joel Greenberg and his victim was involved. This was authenticated by two former “federal agents who interviewed the prison informant who exposed the conspiracy against me,” Gaetz continued in his post, noting that Greenberg possessed child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that he used against one of his wanted to use lawyers.

The evidence proved compelling enough for the Florida congressman to be acquitted without charges being filed against him. Still, the House Ethics Committee’s investigation has not been completed nor has an investigative subcommittee been formed, which Gaetz said “would have long ago timed this investigation and diluted the influence of those throughout the committee seeking revenge.”

“However, NONE of this was enough for the committee. It seems that the solution has been found. Your investigation aims to do what the voters of my district don’t want – remove me from office. Therefore, I will no longer voluntarily participate in it.” “It is a regrettable abuse of the committee,” Gaetz concluded his thread.
