Games at State of Play for Playstation 5 Pro – Major improvements planned

There is also speculation that Sony could reveal new details about the recently unveiled PS5 Pro. The focus here is likely to be on optimizing the games.

The Playstation 5 Pro should receive these improvements:

  • Upgraded GPU: With the PS5 Pro, “we are upgrading to a GPU that offers 67% more processing units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory.” Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering in gameplay, which significantly improves the gaming experience made to make it more fluid.
  • Advanced ray tracing functions: “We have added even more powerful ray tracing that enables more dynamic reflections and refractions of light.” This should allow the rays to be calculated twice, and sometimes even three times, as quickly as on the current PS5 console.
  • AI-powered upscaling: Sony is also introducing “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution,” an AI-powered upscaling powered by machine learning “that delivers ultra-sharp image clarity by adding exceptional detail,” it says.
