These are the FCB women’s opponents in the queens’ class

The start of the 2024/2025 Champions League season is approaching! On Friday afternoon UEFA will have this year’s groups in Nyon Queen class drawn. The FC Bayern women face FC Arsenal, Juventus Turin and Vålerenga. The group phase is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th.

In Arsenal FC, the Munich team faced the same opponent who narrowly knocked them out of the tournament in the quarter-finals two years ago. After a first leg win at the Allianz Arena, the second leg at the Emirates Stadium was not enough to make it to the semi-finals. For Arsenal, the new UWCL season means a comeback on the international stage – last year the Gunners surprisingly failed to qualify. This season too, they had to qualify as third-placed in the league, but in the end they easily prevailed against BK Häcken. In contrast to the FCB women, the 15-time English champions have already won the Champions League once – this success dates back to the 2006/07 season.

In preparation for the season, the FCB women welcomed Juventus Turin in Unterhaching, now we’ll see each other again in the premier class! On their way to qualifying in the UWCL group stage, the five-time Italian champions defeated the top team Paris Saint-Germain. In 2022, the Turin women made it to the quarter-finals, now they were fighting with Bayern, Arsenal and Vålerenga for a place in the knockout phase.

For Vålerenga from the Norwegian capital Oslo, it is a first in the group stage of the Champions League. At the same time, it is the first meeting between the two-time Norwegian champions and FC Bayern. Alexander Straus will be returning to his home country for a competitive game for the first time as FCB head coach.
