Xiaomi is launching a new smartwatch under the Redmi brand umbrella in India today. This goes by the name Redmi Watch 5 Lite and is aimed at the price-conscious target group. In India, the Redmi Watch 5 Lite costs the equivalent of around 37 euros. However, the Redmi Watch 5 Lite will not remain exclusive to India. Even if there is no official announcement about a launch in Europe, MediaMarkt, a retailer in Germany, is already listing the watch for a price of 49.99 euros. The watch is also already represented on Amazon (affiliate link), but is not offered there by Amazon itself, but by a marketplace dealer.

Features of the Redmi Watch 5 Lite

Technically, the Redmi Watch 5 Lite is quite impressive for the relatively low price. The clock consists of an aluminum housing in a rectangular format with rounded edges. The display is quite large at 1.96 inches diagonally and is based on an AMOLED panel with a resolution of 410 x 502 pixels and a maximum brightness of 600 nits. An always-on function is available. It is operated using a button and the touchscreen. The factory strap of the Redmi Watch 5 Lite is made of TPU. According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Watch 5 Lite should be waterproof up to 5 ATM.

The Redmi Watch 5 Lite runs Xiaomi’s Hyper OS and offers basic smartwatch functions such as notifications and tracking of over 150 sports. The heart rate sensor also supports blood oxygen measurement. Sleep and stress tracking are also available. Another highlight is the integrated microphone and a speaker, which you can also use to make calls with the watch or use the Alexa voice assistant. Of course, this requires a smartphone connected via Bluetooth.

Another pleasing feature is the integrated GPS, which also supports GNSS, Galileo QZSS and BDS, allowing activities to be recorded with good precision even without a connected smartphone. The built-in battery should be 470 mAh and allow 18 days of use without recharging. However, Xiaomi’s information material currently does not provide any information about which usage scenario this information is based on. The assumption is that 18 days with an always-on display and regular GPS use are unlikely to be achievable.
