Georgia vs Alabama prediction

Despite two national championships, Kirby Smart is 1-4 against Alabama, while the Crimson Tide is a top-five opponent. It’s the only dark cloud hanging over his time at the helm of the Georgia program, and a statistic he’ll be looking to improve on Saturday.

New Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer, formerly of the Washington Huskies, can lead the team to the biggest victory of his young years and establish the Tide as a legitimate national title contender.

He needs to establish a running game that can wear down Georgia and control the tempo to do so. Kentucky did it with 170 yards on the ground and nearly pulled off the most unlikely upset of the year. The Bulldogs won that game against the Wildcats, narrowly escaping with a 13-12 victory in which they were never able to establish their tempo.

Kentucky gave its opponents the game plan to knock off and beat Georgia, but executing it after the Bulldogs experienced it and survived to win is easier said than done.

This is a program that won the national championship twice under Smart and has played in every major game. Smart has proven to be arguably the best coach in the country. That’s because of the resilience his teams have shown throughout his tenure.

If Georgia can withstand the hype Saturday and the defense prevents Alabama from establishing its running game, forcing quarterback Jalen Milroe to vent, the Bulldogs can win.

It will be close, but Smart will narrowly outpace Coach DeBoer, his players will outplay Alabama’s and the Bulldogs will keep pace in the hunt for a third national title in four years.
