Borussia Dortmund defies a catastrophic start against VfL Bochum. An amazing series continues and BVB becomes the sole record holder. Serhou Guirassy is the man of the match.

Defied the horror start, turned the game around – BVB’s unbeaten streak on Friday evening games continues! Borussia Dortmund won 4-2 (2-2) against VfL Bochum in their home stadium and scored a much-needed three points after the 5-1 debacle against Stuttgart.

Dortmund got off to a miserable start and were 2-0 behind early on after goals from Matús Bero (16th) and Dani de Wit (21st). When conceding the second goal, Gregor Kobel made a serious mistake; a possible foul on the Swiss keeper during the creation of the goal was not punished.

Sahin: “It can also go wrong”

“I don’t even know where to start.” The first goal conceded was of course a blow to the neck, the second was an unforced error. But we remained clear. The speed in the stadium was good. “I don’t know if I can say this, but I think we deserved to win,” said coach Nuri Sahin after the final whistle DAZN.

The coach was happy that his team was able to avoid conceding a third goal. “That could also go wrong.” If the third goal is scored, we have a huge problem. But sometimes you have to learn through suffering,” concluded the 36-year-old.

Guirassy scores twice

Immediately before the half-time whistle, the next goal: Serhou Guirassy jumped highest after a cross from Julian Brandt and headed the ball past Patrick Drewes. After the restart, Emre Can scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 (62′) after Guirassy was fouled by ex-Dortmund player Felix Passlack.

BVB became more and more aggressive going forward and gained more and more precision as the game went on. After a lightning-quick counterattack, Karim Adeyemi passed into Guirassy’s path, who made it 3-2 (75′).

BVB sole record holder

Substitute Felix Nmecha scored Dortmund’s fourth and final goal (81′), also after an assist from Adeyemi. VfL keeper Drewes let the extremely harmless ball slip through his arms.

This means that BVB is unbeaten in 38 games on a Friday game in their home stadium and becomes the sole record holder. The black and yellow had previously shared the record with SV Werder Bremen (37 games).
