Special court will hear CBI’s drug analysis plea of Sandip Ghosh on September 30

Calcutta: A special court in Kolkata will on September 30 hear the Central Bureau of Investigation’s application for drug analysis of the former controversial principal of RG Kar Medical College & Hospital in connection with the rape and murder of a junior doctor on the hospital premises.

On the same day, the special court will also hear the CBI’s application seeking a polygraph test from Abhijit Mondal, former SHO of Tala police station under whose jurisdiction RG Kar falls.

Ghosh and Mondal, both in custody, will be produced before the special court for a hearing on September 30.

The CBI has already conducted a lie detector test on Ghosh in the matter. Now the central authority’s sleuths want his drug analysis to be carried out so that the results can be compared with those of the lie detector test.

There is a fundamental difference between a lie detector test and a narcoanalysis. The lie detector test, also popularly known as the lie detector test, measures physiological reactions such as blood pressure, pulse and breathing of the person being questioned. It is based on the idea that people’s physiological reactions are different when they lie.

In narcoanalysis, on the other hand, the person being questioned is injected with sodium pentothal, popularly called the “truth drug” or “truth serum”, which puts the subject into a state of hypnosis, which is believed to only make the person talk truth.

None of the tests may be carried out without the consent of the person concerned.

On September 25, the special judge rejected the bail application of Ghosh and Mondal, who were accused of misleading the initial investigation and tampering with evidence, but noted that they could face the death penalty if the allegations against them were proven would be proven.
