Fan-favorite fighter who was defeated by Vicious Knee at UFC Paris

Fares Ziam extended his UFC win streak to four by scoring a devastating knee knockout of Matt Frevola on September 28 at UFC Paris.

Ziam dominated Frevola with long-range strikes and suffocating ground control from post to post. “Steamrolla” Frevola was subjected to multiple slams and heavy ground and punch attacks, which changed his demeanor as the fight progressed.

After nearly securing a rear-naked choke in the second round, Ziam went the submission route again in the final frame. As Frevola recovered from a takedown, Ziam raised a knee that landed in a picture-perfect manner on Frevola’s jaw, completely flattening him.

Ziam has flown under the radar at lightweight for a while, largely due to his mediocre performances against Claudio Puelles and Jai Herbert. But now he’s likely to see a surge in popularity and potentially see a ladder fight in the near future.
