ASV Siegendorf turns match against SR Donaufeld

SR Donaufeld

In an exciting duel in the Regionalliga East, ASV Siegendorf 1930 managed a narrow 2-1 win against SR Donaufeld. The Donaufelder were 1-0 up, but surprisingly gave up the match. Due to the simultaneous victory of league leaders Neusiedl, they are currently five points behind the Seestädters.

Balanced first half

SR Donaufeld was offensive from the start. With a well-organized defense and a quick transition game, they tried to put the home team under pressure. However, the first really dangerous scene did not occur until the 26th minute. Marcel Holzer took advantage of a carelessness in Siegendorf’s defense and scored 0-1 for SR Donaufeld. The guests celebrated the opening goal, but the home team’s response was not long in coming.

In the 43rd minute it was Lukas Grozurek who equalized. He brought Siegendorf back into the game with a precise shot into the bottom corner. The goal came at a psychologically important time, just before half-time. We then went to the dressing rooms with a 1-1 draw, which still left the outcome of the party completely open.

Decision in the second half

The second half began similarly to the first: both teams looked for the lead, but it was the hosts who increasingly gained more of the game. A crucial turning point came in the 54th minute when Ivan Andrejevic from Siegendorf was shown a yellow-red card and his team was outnumbered. Despite the numerical inferiority, Siegendorf was not deterred and continued to fight.

The actually decisive moment came in the 69th minute. Christoph Kröpfl took advantage of one of the few chances in the second half and made it 2-1 for the home team. This goal tipped the game in Siegendorf’s favor, even though they still had to play outnumbered. The last few minutes were characterized by intense defensive actions and desperate attacks by the guests, who were looking for an equalizer.

SR Donaufeld did everything they could to turn the game around, but Siegendorf’s defense was now secure and hardly allowed any chances. The four-minute stoppage time no longer changes the outcome of the game. The Siegendorfers also missed a penalty. In the 94th minute, the referee blew the game off and Siegendorf was able to celebrate a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

Voice about the game:

Josef Michorl (coach Donaufeld): “Unfortunately today we missed everything that we did really well in the first 30 minutes. The positional play suddenly stopped working. It’s a shame, the defeat wouldn’t have been necessary. It has nothing to do with the rapid match in the cup. Unfortunately that was simply not enough after the 30th minute today and is not enough to win a point against Siegendorf.
