Preliminary report from September 28th, 12:45 p.m.:

Munich – A week ago, TSV 1860 Munich’s away game at Arminia Bielefeld was still being talked about as Argirios Giannikis’ final. Seven days and six points later, the Lions can play the perfect week with a three-pointer against Borussia Dortmund’s reserves.

With two narrow 1-0 victories in Bielefeld and in the Wiesn home game against Hannover 96 II, the Lions saved their coach’s job and climbed from 19th place to tenth in the table. They also overtook their upcoming opponents, who with eight points are now one point behind 1860.

But three wins from the last four games do not yet make the Lions favorites in Dortmund. In fact, the 1860 fans are shocked when they look at the record of the last direct duels: The Giesingers have been waiting for a win against BVB II for four games, and they lost all of the last three games. Last season there was a clear 0-3 defeat in Dortmund.

Although the East Westphalians, who, like Munich in 1860, have had a major upheaval, have had a mixed season so far, they are strong at home. They are unbeaten at the Rote Erde Stadium, got seven of their eight points in three games and clearly defeated SpVgg Unterhaching and Alemannia Aachen 3-0.

Löwen ended their home misery against Hannover 96 II

The lions should be encouraged by the fact that they ended a negative series on Wednesday. They celebrated their first win in the Grünwalder Stadium since April against the bottom team from Hanover. The series of defeats against Dortmund II should end on Saturday. Kick-off at the Rote Erde Stadium is at 2 p.m. We report in the live ticker.
