Despite 13 Menger goals: Nümbrecht’s handball players remain pointless

Oberberg – Nümbrecht II lost to Siebengebirge II in a high-scoring match – Oberwiehl made many mistakes and still won in Niederpleis.

SSV Nümbrecht II – HSG Siebengebirge II 31:36 (14:19).

Nümbrecht’s handball players are still waiting for their first win of the season. On the fourth matchday of the association league, Bastian Schneider’s team suffered a 31:36 home defeat against HSG Siebengebirge II. Although the Oberbergers scored 31 goals after the weak attacking performance in the previous weeks, the SSV coach once again saw the reasons for the defeat in the Offensive. “We simply make too many mistakes and miss too many chances,” analyzed Schneider after the match. But the recently solid coverage also revealed weaknesses. The strong guests repeatedly made breakthroughs against a less compact SSV defense. A-youth goalkeeper Leo Lesser prevented anything worse from happening with his strong saves.

The initial phase particularly annoyed Schneider and reminded him of the southern district derby: “After ten minutes it is 4:4, although we should actually be leading 7:3.” Siebengebirge was over 10:13 (22nd) and 14:19 at the break until 19:25 (39th) the more effective team. Nümbrecht showed morale: The outstanding Moritz Menger (13 goals) managed to make it 27:28 (50th), but the SSV forces weren’t enough to do more. “Attitudes and moral voices. This is a young team and we are in a learning process, even if it hurts. I will consciously focus on young people who are allowed to make mistakes. “I am convinced that we will still get points,” said Schneider.

Nümbrecht II: Moritz Menger (13), Kevin Schieferdecker (7), Alexander Seinsche (3), Marius Ranke, Paul Robach (2 each), Mathis Pötzsch, Justus Stein, Stephan Bitzer, Tim Lefherz (1 each).

TuS Niederpleis – CVJM Oberwiehl 18:24 (7:13).

Oberwiehl’s handball players are firmly in the upper midfield of the league. The 24:18 away win against newly promoted Niederpleis was already the third win of the season in the fourth game. “Before the season, hardly anyone believed we could score 6:2. “I can’t complain at the moment,” said coach Christian Schüttenhelm after the match. However, it was another tough game. Schüttenhelm’s players did their coach a favor by not chasing a deficit again for more than 60 minutes. The early 9:3 lead (18th) didn’t provide the necessary security.

“We made a maximum of two technical errors before the break, after the break there were over 20,” the CVJM coach saw how the lead quickly dwindled in the second half and Niederpleis went on a 6-0 run to equalize at 13:13 (39.) came. Now it was mainly goalkeeper Daniel Canisius who saved the guests from falling behind with his saves. Nevertheless, it remained exciting until the final phase. Only after 18:20 (56th) did Oberwiehl complete the victory. Schüttenhelm then called it a dirty success: “The coverage was outstanding today and so was our tempo game. However, we scored far too few goals from the left back area and the middle from the tied game.”

Oberwiehl: Artur Gartung (9/4), Moritz Madel (6/1), Leon Binder (3), Lennart Firelingsdorf (2), Frederik Schneider, Jan Philipp Strässer, Sean Bockhacker, Silas Kleinauski (1 each).
