South Jersey officer killed in line-of-duty shooting honored

WESTVILLE, NJ – A South Jersey community gathered Saturday night to honor a fallen police officer.

Deptford police officer Robert or Bobby Shisler received a permanent dedication in Westville.

Officer Shisler was shot in the line of duty in 2023.

Law enforcement family and colleagues gathered outside the Four Heroes Charity headquarters on Edgewater Avenue, where a reflection area was set up to ensure Officer Shisler’s ultimate sacrifice for his community is not forgotten.

His sister, Ashley Shisler, held back tears as she told the crowd, “Everyone deserves to know…everyone deserves to know how incredible he was. We are grateful that you are all here to enjoy his life with us.”

Officer Shisler died in May 2023, nearly two months after he was critically injured in a shooting at a pedestrian stop. The suspect in this incident was also killed.
