Horror start from YB: Patrick Frame has a bad record

GC hasn’t been able to win away from home against the Young Boys for seven years. For this reason, Zurich’s 1-0 win against the reigning champions has a historic touch. No wonder GC trainer Marco Schällibaum was euphoric. He said about his team’s game after the triumph to SRF: “The performance was almost perfect.”

At YB, however, the mood was in the basement – understandably. The Bernese presented themselves weakly. In the first half, the Young Boys didn’t shoot at the GC goal once. There were also fatal bad passes and wild defense. After eight league games, the Bernese are in eleventh place (one win, three draws, four defeats) – and that’s before the cracker in the Champions League against FC Barcelona!

Patrick Frame, coach of the Young Boys, was disappointed and angry. “I have no explanation for the first half,” he said in an interview with blue. “We imagined it completely differently. It’s bitter that we can’t get anything done by half-time.” At the moment it is not an easy situation, they are under pressure to act. Then the Basel player made it clear: “We have to do better.” We can’t let ourselves play so passively.”

Frame is experiencing a horror start with YB. After thirteen games across all competitions (five wins, three draws, five defeats) he has an average of just 1.38 points. That’s bad. For comparison: Raphael Wicky had a points average of 1.97 (88 games) at YB. Or David Wagner, who was fired in March 2022, had an average of 1.73 (40 games) at YB. Can Frame improve his points average against Barcelona of all places?

Also bitter for the Bernese: Captain Loris Benito, who is only coming back from a long injury, had to be replaced injured in the final phase. When asked about him, Framework said at blue: “I hope he won’t be out for long.”
