Mass shootings in the Eastern Cape are “typical” coercive behavior

Seventeen people, including 15 women, were fatally shot in two mass shootings in Lusikisiki on Saturday.

The mass shootings come as police continue to crack down on the problem of extortion that is rife in the Eastern Cape.

Speaking to Jacaranda FM News on Sunday, Cameron said this was typical behavior of extortion mafias.

“It is tragic that this case involved women and children, but I do not believe the incident was specifically targeted at women and children. This was concrete retaliation for a different reason.”

“It is important to welcome the fact that the police have put together a special task team to deal with this case. The challenge is that none of these lives will be brought back and that is why we need to look at prevention.”

“I know that efforts are being made, particularly in the Eastern Cape, to strengthen and strengthen crime intelligence capacity and hopefully we will soon see the results if we stop incidents of this nature before they happen and the people who do things, remove from there.” Society.”
