GMail & Google One: How to quickly free up storage space – find and delete storage hogs

post

The storage space available in your own Google account is limited and is divided as optimally as possible between the three connected services. Today we’ll show you how to avoid potential memory hogs GMail Very easy to track down and delete with just a few clicks. A relatively new overview page on Google One makes this possible.

GMail & Google One: How to quickly free up storage space – find and delete storage hogs

Google offers all users 15 gigabytes of storage space as standard, which can be used by the three connected services Google Photos, Google Drive and GMail. The vast majority of other products have no storage space restrictions and can be filled as desired. But with these three you should be careful and not leave too much unnecessary content in the archive that is no longer needed.

If you’re running low on storage space, be sure to first look at Google Photos and Google Drive, where large files, images and videos are clogging up the valuable quota. GMail is often forgotten, but you shouldn’t underestimate the file size of emails – especially if there are attachments. To help users save storage space, Google One has been offering a simple and quick overview page for some time.

On this special page you will find the biggest memory hogs within GMail that are putting a strain on your quota, sorted into three categories. Of course, this is not an automatic cleaning operation and as a user you always have the final say, because if you don’t want to delete ancient emails with large attachments, for example, you certainly have good reasons for doing so.

Gmail Google One storage space

On the GMail storage space management page you will find the listings from the screenshot above. First, all emails with large attachments are listed, although unfortunately this list is sorted by date and not by file size. The latter would of course be better. In the second tab you will find all emails in the trash that you have already deleted yourself but will be kept there for a few days. And all spam emails can be found in the third tab.

The last two are deleted automatically, but it’s interesting to see how much storage space even simple emails take up. Of course, today you can only smile at a storage space consumption of 20 to 30 kilobytes, but that still adds up to a lot and we urgently need free storage space and will be grateful for this too.

Just check this page regularly and keep the storage space clean in your GMail account.
