The great sensation of Carlos Alcaraz at the Laver Cup continues at the China Open, where the player from Murcia has already qualified for the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament.
Alcaraz defeated Tallon Griekspoor in the round of 16 of the Beijing 2024 tournament. The Spaniard defeated the Dutch 6:1, 6:2 and will now face Russian Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals.

Carlos Alcaraz has no chance in the first set

Carlitos wanted to win the first set quickly and give Griekspoor no options. He first won his first serve game and got the first break of the match on the second break point.

Then Alcaraz chained together another 3 games in a row (including a break in white at 0-3) to virtually take a set with 5-0 on the first set scoreboard. Griekspoor managed to win at least one game on his serve, but Carlitos did not fail to win the first set, which ended with a resounding 6-1.

Alcaraz doesn’t let the level drop in the second set

In the second set, Tallon Griekspoor initially won his first service game, but Carlos Alcaraz wanted to successfully seal his victory. The Spaniard first broke his opponent’s serve when the score was 1:1. After a game to zero to confirm the break and make it 1:3, he dealt the Dutchman another hard blow with his serve.

After this second break, Carlitos confirmed the break for a 5-1 lead, and when his opponent served he had his first match point at 30:40. However, Griekspoor had the courage to turn the situation around and win at least this game and force Alcaraz to end the match on his own serve. The Spaniard refused to be defeated, won the set 6-2 and qualified for the quarter-finals of the China Open.
