Germany captain Joshua Kimmich does not want to comment on who will replace the injured Marc-André ter Stegen in goal in the next national team games.

Barcelona’s Ter Stegen is the first choice after Manuel Neuer’s retirement from the national team, but was sidelined for many months due to a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee.

“It’s very difficult to judge now,” Kimmich from FC Bayern Munich told BR on Sunday.

“I’m being completely honest. I don’t know enough about the goalkeeper position. I can’t rate it enough. Of course we will miss Marc very much.”

Coach Julian Nagelsmann will nominate the squad for the next Nations League games against Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Netherlands on Thursday.

Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel were substitutes for Ter Stegen in the September games, but neither are in the squad.

Fulham’s Bernd Leno was not selected recently due to injury but is now back in action. He has nine caps for Germany, as does Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp, who is currently injured.
