NR election in Vienna: The result of the National Council election in Leopoldstadt

VIENNA/LEOPOLDSTADT. Austria has elected a new National Council consisting of 183 representatives and the first votes have already been counted. Elections to the National Council take place every five years. In Vienna alone, 1,127,189 people were eligible to vote this time, including 60,004 in the 2nd district.

The ballot papers from Vienna have been counted and so have those from Leopoldstadt. The preliminary result is as follows: The SPÖ takes first place with 33.39 percent. In the 2019 National Council election, the Greens were first with 28.34 percent, but this time they recorded heavy losses with 16.67 percent (minus 11.67 percentage points). The Reds, on the other hand, were able to record an increase of 5.79 percentage points compared to 2019, where they were second with 27.60 percent.
