The new Women’s Super League marks the start of a new era for reigning champions Chelsea after long-time coach Emma Hayes left in the summer to begin a new adventure with the US women’s team.

Last year they barely managed enough to clinch the title on goal difference ahead of Manchester City, while Arsenal are once again hoping it will be a three-way battle for the WSL title. Meanwhile, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham will be hoping to progress after further rebuilding this summer.

Crystal Palace have been promoted to replace Bristol City in the top flight, while the league will now be largely run and run by a new organization set up to lead women’s football towards further growth and progress, with Nikki Doucet both overseeing the WSL and Championship as they move into a new phase of the game.
