Fistball Arnreit: Arn riders win ticket for champions play-off

The ladies of Union Raiffeisen Dialog telekom Arnreit achieved 6th place in the table in the last autumn round with a 1:3 defeat against Union Compact Freistadt and a 3:0 win against Union Reichenthal and thus a place in the master play-off.

ARNREIT. In the only home round of this autumn championship, the ladies of the Union Raiffeisen Dialog telekom Arnreit received the Union Compact Freistadt and the Union Reichenthal in a Mühlviertler derby. In the first encounter against the Freistadt women, the Arnreiter women started powerfully and held on to win the first set. However, as the game progressed, the opponents got better and better into the game. In wet playing conditions, however, the Arnreiter women were weak in defense and missed opportunities. The following sets and thus the 3-1 victory went to the opponents.

Somewhat disappointed by the defeat, the Arnreiter women knew about the need for a clear win against the second competitors of the day in order to preserve the possibility of a ticket for the master play-off.

Accelerated and won

Against Union Reichenthal, the team around captain Magdalena Bauer showed more self-confidence and consistency. With a calm build-up to the game and powerful attacks, they were able to build a small lead in every set. The Reichenthal women were only able to catch up a bit in the last set, but in the end the Arnreiter women showed strong nerves and took a 3-0 victory.

With a final sixth place in the championship table, the Arnreiter women are now the last team to make it to the championship play-off and will play for the championship plate next spring. “We are very proud of ourselves to be able to be back in the fight for the championship title.” It was exciting until the end, only one set difference saved us from the promotion playoff,” summed up attacker Katharina Gahleitner.

First competition on the weekend

The women are taking a short autumn break before preparations for the indoor season begin. Only the national team players will still be in international action next weekend and in a few weeks. The first commercial starts next weekend. There are five players in action at the European Youth Cup in Switzerland: Franzsika Koblmüller, Emma Gierlinger, Magdalena Kobler, Katrin Schütz and Pia Mühlparzer. Magdalena Bauer will look after the players as coach of the Upper Austrian U14 girls’ team.
