The Europa League is looking for its new title holder.

After Atalanta Bergamo inflicted their only defeat on German double winners Bayer Leverkusen in the final last season, there will definitely be a new EL champion at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Europa League 2024/25: Which clubs are qualified for the league phase?

The following teams will take part in the league phase of the Europa League, sorted according to their membership in the draw pots in the draw that took place on August 30th.

Europa League 2024/25: How does the new mode work?

Just like in the Champions League. All 36 teams were divided into four draw pots of nine teams each according to their UEFA coefficient. The matches were then drawn, in the league phase each club meets two teams from each other and from their own draw pot and has a home and an away game.

The best eight clubs are then directly qualified for the knockout phase, the worst eight are eliminated directly. The teams in places nine to 16 will play against those in places 17 to 24 in the knockout round playoffs for a place in the round of 16. The teams in places 9 to 16 are “seeded” and enjoy home advantage in the second leg. Who plays against whom will be drawn. From the round of 16 onwards, things will continue in the usual format.

RTL has the rights to broadcast the Europa League. One party with German participation will probably be shown on free TV per match day, while the remaining games will be shown on the paid streaming service RTL+.
