The Apple Watch Ultra has various advantages compared to the “normal” Apple Watch. Even though the Apple Watch 10 has many improvements compared to the previous generation – we find the larger display a real asset – the Apple Watch Ultra still offers a few exclusive functions. One of these “special features” of the Ultra model is the action button. Apple has upgraded this again with the update to watchOS 11.

Apple Watch Ultra: watchOS 11 brings innovations to the action button

Via iPhone -> Apple Watch App -> Action Button -> Action you can specify which action should be triggered when you press the action button once. The following options are available:

  • Training
  • stopwatch
  • Waypoint
  • Back
  • Dive
  • flashlight
  • Shortcut
  • Voice memo
  • Translate
  • Accessibility
  • Recognize music
  • No

What is new, however, is the selection by holding down the action button (quick selection). Since watchOS 11 you can choose the following functions here.

  • Training
  • stopwatch
  • Waypoint
  • Back
  • Dive
  • flashlight
  • Shortcut
  • Voice memo
  • Translate
  • Accessibility
  • Recognize music

(You can adjust the selection in the Apple Watch app on the iPhone). If you hold down the side action button longer, the selection of features will appear. You can then use the digital crown to choose between the functions. If you continue to hold down the action button, you can start the siren, call up the emergency pass, start the compass trackback function, make an emergency call or turn off the Apple Watch.
