Mechabellum: Popular auto-battle has left early access and is still available cheaply for a few days

Game River’s Auto-Battle Mechabellum was in early access for 16 months, and now version 1.0 has been released.

Which doesn’t mean that Game River is completely finished with development. It goes even further, for example in the context of Seasons.

Strategic disputes

Mechabellum is set on a newly colonized planet called Far-Away. There you compete against other players with your army, which includes mechs. You can also complete PvE battles.

The battles take place over several rounds. Among other things, it’s about setting up the right units, placing them and hopefully making the right decisions before the start of the match. Apart from that, everything happens automatically afterwards.

In contrast to other representatives of the genre, Mechabellum places more emphasis on classic RTS tactics and less on hero units. Which strategy is best can vary depending on the match.

In any case, it’s nice to see once two armies are unleashed and fire missiles, lasers and whatever at each other’s ears. Since it’s an auto battler, you can sit back and watch in comfort at that moment. And then analyze what you might do differently in the next round.

The update to version 1.0 introduces new types of specialists and additional units. There is also a ranking system with different leagues that are divided into seasons. If you play successfully, you will be promoted to higher leagues. Each season is intended to run for three months and offer its own rewards.

I had already played Mechabellum last year and was initially skeptical. After just a few matches, it was able to convince me with its interesting and exciting concept.

By the way, you can get Mechabellum even cheaper on Steam. Until October 3, 2024, you will only pay 10.35 euros instead of 14.79 euros.
