How J-Lo and P Diddy’s relationship may have ended her last marriage

J-Lo and P Diddy’s relationship was an iconic moment for Hollywood. The two musical mammoths were truly in their prime when they began dating in the late ’90s.

A lot happened in their relatively short romance, some of which may have contributed to her recent divorce from Ben Affleck.

From a shoot in New York to THAT green Versace dress, here’s a look at J-Lo and P Diddy’s relationship.

They met while filming a music video

More than two decades ago, when Jennifer Lopez, or J-Lo as she was then known, was an aspiring artist, she met producer P Diddy.

Diddy had just broken up with his long-time on-off girlfriend Kim Porter when he started a relationship with the singer. They met in 1999 after Diddy was hired to work with Jennifer on the music video for her song “If You Had My Love.”

From then on, their relationship blossomed and they were considered Hollywood’s It couple at the turn of the millennium.

In 1999, the couple was involved in a shooting at a New York nightclub in which both were arrested. And while the charges against J-Lo were dropped, Diddy was tried for bribery and weapons possession but was later acquitted.

There was THAT Versace dress moment

They famously attended the Grammys together in 2000, where J-Lo wore her iconic low-cut green tropical Versace dress, but the couple split just a year later.

When asked about fashion’s groundbreaking moment in 2017, P Diddy told ET, “We just did our best in terms of what we wore and how we wanted to use fashion.” …I thought it was going to be the game really change.”

After the shooting, their relationship became rocky and on Valentine’s Day 2001, they decided to end the relationship for good.

A statement from Diddy’s publicist to ABC said: “Mr. Combs confirmed that he and his love Jennifer Lopez have indeed broken up.

“He wanted to clear up any rumors surrounding their relationship. During this difficult time, we ask that you respect his privacy.”

And while a reason for the breakup was never given, Diddy’s alleged infidelity was cited as a reason for it, as well as lingering feelings for his on-off girlfriend Kim Porter.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, J-Lo explained that she and her ex have different mindsets, saying that while Diddy “likes to go out,” she’s more of a “housewife.”

So how did P Diddy allegedly contribute to J-Lo’s recent divorce?

After J-Lo and P Diddy’s relationship ended, she moved on with Ben Affleck. The couple soon became engaged before splitting in 2004, just days before their wedding. However, to the world’s surprise, the couple got back together in 2021 and got married a year later.

But it wasn’t meant to be when J-Lo and Ben divorced earlier this year, with the former citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

However, sources say there may be more to the story: Newsnation reported that Ben allegedly received tapes of J-Lo confiscated by the FBI.

In his podcast, former record executive and convicted felon Suge Knight claims that the FBI may have confiscated tapes from Diddy’s house in a raid, some of which contain Jennifer.

When discussing J-Lo’s involvement in the 1999 New York City shooting, he said, “They raid Puffy’s house and they get all these videos of J-Lo doing this and J-Lo.”

He then claimed that Ben was now in possession of the tapes in question and the information contained on them was one of the reasons for their breakup.

Knight said: “I’m pretty sure [FBI] probably called.

“It is a white man who has gained respect in the white world. I’m pretty sure they said, ‘We want to show you a few things about your wife.'”

Jennifer Lopez’s representatives have been contacted but have not yet responded.
