Waynesboro man charged in Mint Spring shooting

MINT SPRING — A suspect turned himself in Sunday after a vehicle was struck by numerous gunshots during a domestic dispute earlier in the morning, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office said.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call for shots fired in the 200 block of White Hill Road. The victim reported the suspect fired several shots at his vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Officers arrived in the Mint Spring area and set up a perimeter around the scene, a news release said. Evidence was collected and the suspect was identified as David L. Blair Jr., 27, of Waynesboro.

A few hours after the shooting, Blair turned himself in at the Verona Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with attempted willful bodily harm, intentional shooting at an occupied vehicle and using a firearm in an attempt to cause serious bodily harm.

Blair is being held without bail at the Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.

“This was an isolated domestic incident. “Fortunately, in this dangerous situation, the victim and no members of the public were injured,” said Sheriff Donald L. Smith.
