Big surprise promised, Raw preview, NXT change

Big surprise promised, Raw preview, NXT change

The head of the NXT brand is currently in the US media to promote the launch of the third WWE brand on the CW Network on Tuesday. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Michaels highlighted the women’s roster in NXT that would be unrivaled anywhere in the world. He named Roxanne Perez, Kelani Jordan, Jaida Parker, and Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer as two of the hottest free agents in the world who have recently joined NXT.

Shawn Michaels hinted at additions to the NXT roster

Michaels continued: “There are more big, big surprises coming up.” If you thought we were well-cast, you ain’t seen nothing yet. And that applies to both sides of the squad.”

One can speculate about a permanent commitment from TNA star Jordynne Grace, who recently made guest appearances in NXT. Grace’s TNA contract expires in early 2025, and many scene observers are expecting a change. On the men’s side, the start of the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) is now an open secret.

But maybe Michaels and his team have something completely different planned that we’re not expecting yet!

WWE NXT debuts Tuesday on the CW Network. The broadcast will be from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. The focus is on guest star CM Punk, who appears as a referee in the NXT title match. A few days ago around 6,200 tickets were issued for the show (according to “Wrestletix”).

Was Shawn Michaels responsible for the major NXT channel change?

The show a week later from St. Louis, Missouri, with guest star Randy Orton, will also be significant. The show will then run at the same time as AEW Dynamite, which will exceptionally be scheduled on Tuesday instead of the regular Wednesday on October 8th.

The announced lineup for WWE NXT on October 1st from Chicago:

  • Match for the WWE NXT Championship with guest referee CM Punk: Ethan Page (c) vs. Trick Williams
  • Match for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Giulia
  • Chicago Street Fight: Wes Lee vs. Zachary Wentz
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are also competing
  • Jaida Parker & Lola Vice vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jazmyn Nyx, Jacy Jayne – two of the three members compete)
  • The Miz presents “MizTV.” Guests: Oba Femi and Tony D’Angelo

“Last Monster Standing” on the final two-hour WWE Raw of the year

Of course, the WWE week starts with Raw. This episode is special because for the last time this year, Raw will last three hours. The broadcast from Evansville (Indiana) ended the previous deal between WWE and the USA Network, which came into force in October 2019.

From October to December, Raw will only last two hours. In January 2025, the show moved to Netflix and will run longer again.
On Raw we can expect Jey Uso, who won the Intercontinental Championship last week and now holds a singles title in WWE for the first time in 14 years. The biggest match announcement is the “Last Monster Standing” match between Braun Strowman and “Big” Bronson Reed.

The line-up announced so far:

  • “Last Monster Standing” Match: Braun Strowman vs. “Big” Bronson Reed
  • Rey Mysterio vs. Xavier Woods
  • Kofi Kingston vs. Chad Gable
  • Lyra Valkyria vs Zoey Stark
  • 6-Man Tag Team Match: LWO (Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro) vs. Judgment Day (Carlito, JD McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio)
  • Intercontinental Champion Jey Uso is in attendance
  • CM Punk and Drew McIntyre also can’t miss a few days before “Hell in a Cell”.

“Dumpster Match” on WWE SmackDown, PLE on Saturday

After two shows on Monday and Tuesday, there will be the next double act on Friday and Saturday.

A triple threat ladder match for the tag team titles has been announced for WWE SmackDown from Nashville, Tennessee. But what many fans are just as excited about is the “garbage can match,” in which either Michin or (even more likely) Chelsea Green ends up in the trash can.

The line-up announced so far for Friday:

  • Triple Threat Ladder Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship: The Bloodline (Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa) vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
  • Dumpster Match: Michin vs. Chelsea Green
  • Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton
  • AJ Styles returns

“Bad Blood” from Atlanta (Georgia) follows on Saturday. The event at State Farm Arena is sold out and tickets are in high demand on the secondary market. Two matches in particular ensure this: Firstly, the Hell in a Cell match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk and the announced collaboration between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns against the Bloodline (Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa).

Note: “Bad Blood” starts from Saturday to Sunday, at midnight (German time), an hour earlier than usual.
