Huawei has started distributing a firmware update for its brand new Huawei Watch GT 5 and Watch GT 5 Pro. These bring a number of innovations and improvements to the smartwatches.

It was only two weeks ago that Huawei brought stylish new smartwatches onto the market with the Watch GT 5 (from 249 euros at Huawei) and the Watch GT 5 Pro (from 379 euros at Huawei), each in two sizes and different designs . The first update is now available.

As reported in the HuaweiBlog, among others, Huawei is currently distributing firmware version 5.0.0.100 for both the Huawei Watch GT 5 and the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro. The download is only a good 20 MB in size. Thanks to the fact that the two smartwatches do not officially support WiFi, but updates can still be transferred from the smartphone to the wearable via WiFi, the download should be quite generous.

The Huawei Watch GT 5 (Pro) remains with Harmony OS version 5.0 with the latest update. However, you will receive some innovations and improvements, although the changes are the same for both models. According to Changelos, the Stay Fit app, among other things, will have a quick recording function. In addition, the RouteDraw function now offers the ability to recommend creative routes with stay points. This should make running more fun.

As further innovations, update 5.0.0.100 adds a calculator app to the smartwatches, enabling calculations on the wrist. Additionally, customization capabilities for gallery watch faces have been improved. Users can now create their own watch faces by setting the custom options in the Huawei Heath app. As a further optimization, support for screenshots on the watch when not connected to a phone has been added. These will then be saved in the smartphone gallery the next time you connect.
