Chicago man charged in connection with missing and trafficked upstate teen

COOK COUNTY (25News Now) – A Chicago man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into the human trafficking of a missing upstate teenager.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said 30-year-old Tervon Moore was taken into custody Friday.

The FBI contacted the sheriff’s office’s SVU investigators after images of the missing 16-year-old from Woodford County were found on the websites Megapersonals and Skipthegames.

The sheriff’s office said an investigator posing as a sex buyer arranged to meet the victim at a motel in Cicero on Friday afternoon. When the victim arrived, he was rescued and Moore was taken into custody.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Investigators learned that Moore allegedly solicited the victim to engage in sexual acts, posted ads on the aforementioned websites, set up appointments with Johns and collected the payments, taking half of the proceeds for himself, the sheriff’s office said.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office on Saturday approved charges of involuntary servitude of a minor under 17, human trafficking for labor/benefits and human trafficking for labor/recruitment.

Moore was ordered held pending trial.
