Luxury Brit – New Bentley Continental GT starts at 246,000 euros – Economy

Andermatt (dpa/tmn) – It was the first new Bentley under VW management and still shapes the brand today: No car is as important to the British as the Continental GT. When the next generation is launched before the turn of the year, the two-door model will be the most powerful series model to date from the leading VW sister company.

According to the manufacturer, it starts at 246,000 euros, and if you want to buy the powerful luxury liner as a convertible, you even have to budget 271,500 euros. Bentley has now announced these prices.

Less displacement, more power

Instead of the old 6.0-liter engine with twelve cylinders, Bentley is installing a new 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine in the Continental GT and supplementing it with an electric motor and buffer battery to create a plug-in hybrid.

Not only does it travel up to 80 kilometers purely electrically, but according to Bentley it has a previously unattainable system output of 575 kW/782 hp, a quick 20 percent more than the twelve-cylinder engine. As a result, the sprint time from 0 to 100 for the coupé was shortened from 3.6 to 3.2 seconds, while the top speed remains unchanged at 335 km/h. According to the manufacturer, the same drive will soon be available in the Flying Spur sedan.
