Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who was released in June, will speak publicly about his case for the first time since his imprisonment in 2019.

The 53-year-old will speak (8:30 a.m. CET) before the Human Rights Committee of the Council of Europe, which dealt with his case. Assange returned to his home country of Australia in June after twelve years in embassy asylum and prison in Great Britain. He had pleaded guilty to passing on confidential information for the defense as part of an agreement with the US judiciary and was sentenced to prison, which he had already served. Since the exclusion of Russia, 46 countries have belonged to the Council of Europe, which sees itself as a guardian of human rights.
