The build-up to the third SA20 season has been one of the most exciting and high-profile, with some of the best players in the world jumping on the South African T20 league bandwagon. Ben Stokes, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Jonny Bairstow, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Trent Boult and Dinesh Karthik have been selected as pre-signings for the tournament ahead of the 2025 edition, however there are a few spots that each of the six franchises need to fill. For that there is this small one Auction in which a total of 13 places are to be filled, 10 of which are with foreign players.

A team can consist of a maximum of 19 players, including a wildcard player and a rookie and the remaining 17. A team must consist of a minimum of 10 South African players and a maximum of seven foreign players (including wildcard). The top names on the show include rising pace duo Shamar Joseph and Matthew Forde from the West Indies, Josh Little from Ireland and Naseem Shah from Pakistan. Reeza Hendricks and Tony de Zorzi are the two high-profile local players.

After the auction there will also be a rookie draft with MI Cape Town, followed by Pretoria Capitals, Joburg Super Kings, Paarl Royalsm Durban’s Super Giants and Sunrisers Eastern Cape, with one team eligible to draft a local player aged 22 or to sign younger.

The 2025 SA20 Auction begins on Tuesday, October 1, at 7:45 AM IST. The auction will be televised live on Sports18 1 and Sports18 1 HD channels in India, while live streaming will be available on the JioCinema app and website.
