The brightest stars in world snooker will leave the UK and head to China for the second edition of the Wuhan Open from October 6-12.

Judd Trump won the inaugural staging of the tournament by beating Ali Carter 10-7 in an enthralling final, and the world No. 1 will be eager to defend his title and extend his advantage at the top of the rankings.

He will have plenty of star opposition, though. A strong field has been assembled, with world champion Kyren Wilson, English Open winner Neil Robertson and world No. 3 Mark Allen all in the draw.

But what about Ronnie O’Sullivan? ‘The Rocket’ lost in his opening round of the English Open and withdrew from the British Open hours before he was due to play Manasawin Phetmalaikul.

When is the Wuhan Open?

The 2024 Wuhan Open will begin on Sunday, October 6, with the final scheduled for Saturday, October 12.

Who is playing in the Wuhan Open?

Joining O’Sullivan, Trump, Wilson, Robertson and Allen are a host of the sport’s other biggest names.

Fresh off an appearance in the English Open final, John Higgins kicks off his tournament with a second-round clash against Fan Zhengyi.

Ding Junhui is sure to be a fan favorite and begins his quest for the title in the first round against Robbie McGuigan.

Shaun Murphy faces Anthony Hamilton in an all-English clash in the second round, while Jimmy White So I want to be in action. White takes on Noppon Saengkham in the second round on October 7.

What is the Wuhan Open schedule?

  • Sunday, October 6: Round 1 and Round 2 – Sessions start at 3am, 7am and 12.30pm
  • Monday, October 7: Round 2 – Sessions start at 3am, 7.30am, 12.30pm
  • Tuesday, October 8 – Saturday, October 12: Session information TBC

What prize money is on offer at the Wuhan Open?

As well as the prestige of lifting the trophy, players will also be battling it out for a share of the £700,000 prize pot.

  • Semi-finals: £30,000
  • Quarter finals: £16,000
  • Load 16: £12,000
