Graham Potter gave an 11-word response after being asked about the Man Utd job live on Monday Night Football

Graham Potter opened up about links to Manchester United during his appearance on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

When Graham Potter was asked about links to Manchester United during his appearance on Monday Night Football, he responded cautiously.

The former Chelsea, Brighton and Swansea manager joined Jamie Carragher on the Sky Sports show to cover Bournemouth’s 3-1 win over Southampton.

But in addition to analyzing an impressive win for the Cherries, Potter was also asked about a potential return to management.

He has not returned to the hotseat since being released by Chelsea in April 2023.

Nevertheless, Potter has been linked with a variety of different jobs, including the post at Manchester United.

After overcoming the crisis in the summer following a win in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, Erik ten Hag is once again under great pressure after a poor start to the new season.

The humiliating 3-0 defeat to Spurs leaves them 13th in the table and host Dave Jones asked him if he would enjoy the challenge of managing United, to which he quickly replied: “I’m sitting here enjoying it challenge to answer your questions.”

Jones then asked about speculation that he was one of several managers in talks with INEOS and United over the summer.

However, this time he at least gave a slightly more detailed answer, saying: “I take what the media says with a grain of salt.”

“I am the only coach in world football to be linked with Stoke City and Napoli in the same week.”

“I’ve had a lot of conversations with a lot of people and I think out of respect for those people it’s best to keep them private.”

Links to the job in England emerged, leading to Potter joking: “I think it’s time for a commercial break, don’t you?!”

He then said the England position was a “fantastic job”, praised the work of Gareth Southgate and backed Lee Carsley.

Potter explained: “As an Englishman it’s obviously a fantastic job and I support FA and their decisions and whoever the next manager is.”

“Gareth has done a fantastic job and I’m sure Lee will continue to do so in the future, no matter how long it takes.”

Potter enjoys spending time with family after beginning a 12-year stint as manager in the fourth tier of Swedish football with Östersunds.
