CNN presenter confronts Trump Spox: Tim Walz idiot, effeminate?

CNN anchor Kasie Hunt challenged the Trump campaign’s senior adviser Jason Miller about names, the governor. Tim Waltz (D-MN) – Vice President Kamala Harris Vice President – was appointed by Miller and the former president Donald Trump – and made him back down.

With Tuesday night’s CBS News debate between vice presidential candidates Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) and Gov. Tim Waltz (D-MN), just hours away, both campaigns have raised some expectations — only one of them did so by calling her opponent “effeminate” and an “idiot.”

In the Tuesday morning edition of CNN this morningHunt began by asking Miller whether he agreed with Trump that Walz was an “idiot” and whether that conflicted with Miller’s view that Walz was a skilled debater.

She later came back and asked why Miller called Walz an “effeminate caricature” in a press interview, whereupon Miller abandoned the adjective and instead claimed that Walz was not sufficiently “alpha male”:

KASIE HUNT: Trump’s campaign team made it clear in a press briefing yesterday that they are not underestimating Walz’s debate skills.

JASON MILLER: Walz was very good in debates. I would like to repeat that Tim Walz is very good at debates. Really good. He has been a politician for almost 20 years. He will be very well prepared for tomorrow evening. He won’t be the wildly gesticulating female caricature we see at rallies, pointing at Kamala Harris and dancing around on stage.

KASIE HUNT: All right. Joining us now is the man you just heard there: Trump senior campaign adviser Jason Miller. Jason, good morning. I’m happy to have you on the program.

JASON MILLER: Good morning.

KASIE HUNT: So that was your assessment of Tim Walz’s abilities on the debate stage. It’s very different from what your boss Donald Trump had to say about Tim Walz. Regard.

DONALD TRUMP: He’s running against an idiot, a total idiot. How she chose him is incredible. And I think that’s a big factor. There’s something wrong with that guy. He is sick. He went to the Michigan game the other day and was booed. I attended the Alabama game. That 120,000 people went crazy.

KASIE HUNT: So Jason, is Tim Walz an idiot?

JASON MILLER: Well, two things can be true at the same time here. Again, the Tim Walz we see on the campaign trail, jumping around and dancing, pointing at Kamala Harris and looking kind of goofy, is not the Tim Walz who shows up in debates. And Casey, I’m telling you, I’ve seen more debate tapes of Tim Walz than anyone should ever be forced to.

KASIE HUNT: Do you think someone who’s an idiot can be good on a debate stage? I guess this is the part I’m tripping over.

JASON MILLER: Well, it is, and again two things can apply.

KASIE HUNT: Jason, before I let you go, I want to address something we heard from you at the press call where you called Tim Walz a feminist. I noticed that. Why Why did you use this term?

JASON MILLER: I mean, if you look at the way Tim Walz dances on stage, that’s exactly what impressed me. And that was my characterization. And this is Tim Walz, like I said, he’s kind of goofy, jumping around. He doesn’t look like –

KASIE HUNT: Silly and bouncy or not. I mean, the word “feminine” has a lot of specific connotations.

JASON MILLER: Well, yeah. Goofy and jumping around. It’s not someone who comes across as this alpha male, someone who’s a killer, who comes across as sharp on the debate stage. But that’s exactly what we’re going to see tonight with Tim Walz. Again, I’m not saying JD Vance won’t show up and do very well, but Tim Walz will be an absolute killer.

He is. He won’t be that goofy caricature of himself that we usually see when he’s on stage and does the weird way of pointing at Kamala Harris. Tim Walz is good. I would say the advantage is definitely his because he’s been doing it for so long.

Watch above CNN this morning.
