These offers are great – and Amazon can keep these things

These offers are great – and Amazon can keep these things

Amazon hasn’t revealed it at one Prime Days event per year for several years now – and this year the company is putting Prime Day in October again. The two days on October 8th and 9th should once again ensure full coffers at Amazon Marketplace retailers – and not least at Amazon itself. And even if the shopping event is almost an annual standard, There are a few good reasons to look for bargains on Prime Deal Days.

Take a look and grab it: These products are usually particularly cheap

1. Amazon’s own technology products

No matter whether it’s about the Echo series or the Fire TV products, whether you’re looking for smart home products or Amazon’s own security products: you’ll find all of these at decent prices again on Prime Day and you should Find out in advance which model and which features are right for you. We even go so far as to say that Prime Day and Black Friday week are the dates when you would have the best opportunity to stock up on the appropriate equipment at that time. In addition, if there are corresponding subscription models as a supplement, you will rarely get better combination offers with an extended test period.

Tip: It rarely happens that Amazon’s own products are sold out prematurely or are only offered with extremely long delivery times. If that’s the case, it’s worth going to competitors from Mediamarkt to Saturn to Telekom or Medimax. In the past, on the one hand, they usually followed suit – either advertised or at least on demand – and usually had longer stocks of goods, especially in the branches.

This year we will once again have a list of the best deals on Amazon technology products on Prime Day.

2. Amazon private label accessories and consumer goods

For years, Amazon has been trying to gain a foothold in the food sector and everyday products. For this reason, the company has discounted a large part of its own brands for this year’s Prime Day. By the way, there is a different idea or intention behind this. For years, Amazon has set itself the goal of addressing its customers as often as possible, ideally daily, and being perceived by them as a brand. This works quite well thanks to the numerous Fire tablets and smart speakers, but the range of everyday things also contributes to this.

Tip: The discounts can also be combined with a subscription order, the discount of which you do not have to use permanently. You can also cancel the subscription immediately after the first delivery.

3. Clothing and shoes

This year, Prime Day is once again in October, the time when many customers stock up on clothing and shoes for the fall and winter seasons. In recent years it has been observed that the discount campaigns for seasonal goods are starting earlier and earlier, so that corresponding bargains can also be found on this year’s Prime Deal Day. Especially when it comes to branded goods, customers should inform themselves in advance and, ideally, check with a list whether the items they want are particularly cheap on the sales days. Market observers from the clothing industry report that inventory levels are too high for this time of year and are likely to put a red pencil on Prime Day.

4. Kitchen appliances and cooking utensils

In fact, kitchen appliances and household goods are another category where you can pick up a bargain on Prime Day. There are two reasons for this: on the one hand, the regular prices here are often far from the market price, and on the other hand, the market is confusing, especially for the big brands, when it comes to the series and model series. And apart from that, there is usually significantly less technical progress from one model generation to the next than is the case with consumer electronics and IT technology. You can also expect one or two bargains in good spirits. However, it also applies here that you should find out in advance from the respective brand shops what exactly you are looking for. Especially on Prime Deal Days, products can sell out quickly, especially if they are really cheap.

5. Toys, sports and leisure items:

Another category in which you can probably find good offers this year is the areas of toys and sports and leisure. This in turn has to do with storage, but also with the manufacturers’ recommended retail prices, which are often somewhat high. Especially with branded products from Lego to Playmobil, but especially with merchandising products, many retailers are quick to reduce goods. However, you should compare with a price search engine to see whether the bargain is actually one. By the way, you can secure gifts before the start of the pre-Christmas shopping season, when the availability of certain goods could become scarce again this year.

Big disappointment: These product categories suggest few good offers

And then there are a few areas where Prime Day has often been a disappointment, or at least there are other ways to get the devices cheaper.

1. Smartphones

In the past there were sometimes good offers on smartphones, but mostly in the middle class. Nowadays, especially with higher-priced devices, it is rare for manufacturers to offer attractive discounts on the exciting devices on Prime Day without necessity. You’re better off if you look for an interesting deal with a contract. Cell phone resellers here often have offers where the price structure is such that you are close to the so-called drawer contract. These used to be offers that were even cheaper with a contract than the new price/street price of the device itself. An exception here are some older models that have been on the market for a long time and are now being sold off on Prime Day. You can actually get lucky here, but you should check in advance what technical differences there are to the respective successor model. We will present attractive offers here at the start on Tuesday.

2. Particularly price-stable products such as game consoles or Apple products

This year we will definitely see some products that will be slightly discounted on the occasion of Prime Day. However, in the past, real bargains have rarely been available here because the goods are in such demand that they rarely have to be reduced in price. You should therefore look particularly closely at these and – especially when it comes to marketplace retailers – pay close attention to the localization. But also keep in mind that Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Cyber Week are still coming up in November – dates on which not only Amazon offers goods on sale like on Prime Days, but actually the entire e-commerce industry. The industry has to go along with it.

3. Accessories and China private labels

In recent years, quite a few Chinese private labels have discovered Prime Day for themselves with interchangeable accessory products from smartphone cases to notebook stands, from USB cables to Bluetooth boxes. But this has meant that the already mostly cheap products flood the platform and are not a particularly good buy, especially on Prime Day. On the one hand, price trends here do not show any significant downward swings or even low prices, and on the other hand, you should rather use the limited time on Prime Day for purchases where you can save more money.

Tip: If you would like to order Chinese goods cheaper than on Amazon, you can take a look at our guide on the subject or read it here. Basically, you can get many goods cheaper at Temu and Shein, but also at Aliexpress, Wish and Banggood. But in most cases you have to wait much longer for it. Conversely, the return process is now just as uncomplicated as with Amazon if there is a return.

4. Many of the lightning deals

Here too, a lot has happened in recent years. While the flash offers were largely attractive in the first few years when there was a Prime Day, the growing number has meant that we are having more and more difficulty identifying attractive offers. What was said above also applies here: look for offers from well-known brands and inform yourself beforehand.

Tip: In many cases, as a Prime customer you can access the lightning offers or check the conditions earlier than those who do not have a valid Prime subscription. You can also use the Amazon app for this.

5. Software, games and films

A few years ago, in addition to generously discounted Blu-Rays and DVDs, there were also plenty of cheap offers in the area of software and games. In recent years we have only seen a few attractive offers that are ultimately cheaper than the competition. The previously widespread five for 25 euros or three-for-two offers across larger areas of the respective range are no longer available. Here too, the titles that are currently in the stores and are in demand are usually not discounted or are only discounted to a small extent.

The bottom line is that Prime Day, with its practical location in mid-July, is one thing above all: an offer that is far enough away from back-to-school and other promotional days. Experts rightly observe that the customer will only spend the money once (especially in times of tight budgets) – and whoever is there at the right time as a retailer will make the deal.
