Google’s Pixel 9a could bring some bolder colors to the lineup

Google’s Pixel 9a could bring some bolder colors to the lineup

Key insights

  • Google Pixel 9a may offer bold, vibrant hues like peony and iris, departing from the Bay and Aloe colors of the Pixel 8a.
  • Pixel 9a dimensions: 154 x 73 x 8.6 mm, slightly larger than Pixel 8a, suggesting possible upgrades.
  • The Pixel 9a is expected to arrive in spring 2025, with Android 15 and Tensor G4 chipset, but retaining the Exynos 5300 modem.

The Google Pixel 9a may still be months away, but leaks are already emerging. Just a few days ago we saw CAD renderings that revealed the possible design of the device. Now a new report has revealed the possible color options for the Pixel 9a, and that’s good news for anyone looking for an Android phone with bold, vibrant hues.

The latest leak comes from the same source that revealed the Pixel 9a’s design: Android Headlines, and suggests that the device will be available in four colors. Similar to the Pixel 9 series, which introduced poppy tones like peony (pink) and wintergreen (green), the Pixel 9a will also offer bright colors, albeit different than its predecessor, the Pixel 8a.

According to the report, Google is ditching the previous colors Aloe (green) and Bay (blue) for two new options: Peony and Iris. While the renders don’t show these colors yet, Peony is expected to resemble the Pixel 9’s pink variant, while Iris is described as a bluish-purple, possibly similar to the iPhone 16’s ultramarine.

If you’re not a fan of bright colors, don’t worry – Google isn’t giving up on its neutral hues entirely. According to the report, the Pixel 9a will continue to be available in the classic Porcelain and Obsidian colors and offer the familiar black and white options.

The dimensions of the Pixel 9a have also been leaked

The report not only reveals possible color options, but also provides details about the dimensions of the Pixel 9a. According to the leak, the Pixel 9a will be slightly taller and wider than the Pixel 8a, but thinner, measuring 154 x 73 x 8.6 mm. For comparison: The Pixel 8a measures 152.1 x 72.7 x 8.9 mm. While the larger body could indicate a larger battery and display, there are no leaks confirming this yet.

However, the Pixel 9a is still months away, with a release likely in spring 2025. So far, leaks suggest it will run Android 15 out of the box and feature the same Tensor G4 chipset as the flagship Pixel 9 series . However, keep the previous generation Exynos 5300 modem. As we get closer to launch, more details are likely to be revealed.
