After an incident in a women’s match: Superstar Eto’o receives a worldwide stadium ban

Former world-class striker Samuel Eto’o has been given a six-month stadium ban following an incident at the Women’s U20 World Cup in Colombia. This was announced by the world football association FIFA. FIFA’s disciplinary committee accuses the president of the Cameroonian association Fecafoot of violating the rules on “offensive behavior” under “violation of the principles of fair play” and “misconduct of players and officials”.

Eto’o is said to have put pressure on the officials on September 11th when Cameroon lost the round of 16 against Brazil (1:3 after extra time). The Cameroonian delegation particularly criticized the penalty that led to the Brazilian equalizer.

The stadium ban does not affect Eto’o’s work as association president, but it applies “to all games of the Fecafoot men’s and women’s teams of all categories and age groups,” FIFA said. (sid/mp)
