Anyone who wants to buy the best cell phone from Samsung, Huawei and Co will soon have really bad news

Large manufacturers such as Samsung and Xiaomi will also introduce new cell phones in 2025. But prices could rise sharply if the leaks about the next Qualcomm processor are correct. Some assume prices of +20%. What this means for you is that the best cell phone models will soon cost more than 2,000 euros, if you want to pay the prices.

Where could prices rise? Qualcomm will present its latest products in a few weeks, on October 21, 2024. Specifically, this is supposed to be about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This should be better, faster and more efficient and it is to be expected that large companies like Samsung and Huawei will also install the latest processor in their best cell phones. Samsung is installing the predecessor “Snapdragon 8 Gen 3” in the current S23 Ultra.

Now leaks claim that prices for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could rise significantly. We’re talking about 20% more. This is reported by Android Authority magazine. The higher costs are usually passed on by the manufacturers to the customers. And that could also be autumn in 2025, when new devices will be presented.

Some high-end models already cost over 1,500 euros and some models are expected to become even more expensive in 2025

Where are the prices currently? For the best model from Samsung, the Galaxy S24 Ultra with 1 TB of storage, you officially pay 1,809 euros. The predecessor, the S23 Ultra, cost 1,819 euros when it was released with 1 TB of storage. The entry-level version with 256 GB of the Galaxy S24 Ultra starts at “only” 1,449 euros.

You also have to pay 1,999 euros for the Honor Magic V3 on the market. The ROG Phone 8 Pro from ASUS costs 1,199 euros and is therefore slightly cheaper.

How much could prices rise? If Samsung actually passes on Qualcomm’s high prices to customers, then the prices are likely to rise significantly. If you actually had to add an additional 20% to the current prices, then we would still be at 2,170 euros for the S25 Ultra. The prices should not be any different for other manufacturers.

The math game applies to other manufacturers: For many companies whose products are already well over 1,000 euros, this could exceed 2,000 euros.
