How Tim Walz “Celebrated” His Debate Performance Against JD Vance

How Tim Walz “Celebrated” His Debate Performance Against JD Vance

Tim Walz revealed how he celebrated his performance during last night’s vice presidential debate in New York City.

A video posted to Walz’s X account (formerly Twitter) shows Walz seemingly standing by his team after the debate. As the group applauds, he can be heard saying a relieved-sounding “Yes!”

The clip then shows Walz saying, “Yeah, I do wanna get pizza.”

Walz is then seen entering a pizzeria with his wife Gwen and choosing a piece of sausage.

He is greeted by his team as he leaves the pizzeria, which appears to be Justino’s Pizza at 881 10th Avenue, just around the corner from the CBS Broadcast Center at 524 West 57th Street. You can see what appear to be several supporters chanting “Let’s go, Coach!” Let’s go, Coach!” shout.

The clip was captioned: “Gwen and I had a great evening celebrating with a slice of pizza. Now let’s win this thing.” Since it was posted, it has been viewed over 700,000 times and received 35,000 likes.

Although Walz called the debate a cause for celebration, not everyone feels the same way.

A CNN poll conducted immediately after the debate found that 51 percent of respondents viewed the debate as a win for Vance, as opposed to 49 percent who viewed it as a win for Walz. This poll had a margin of error of 5.3 points.

A poll conducted before the debate was in Walz’s favor: 54 percent of respondents believed he would win, suggesting that Walz underperformed in the eyes of some viewers.

According to CNN moderators who discussed the debate after it ended, Walz seemed “unprepared.” Former Obama strategist David Axelrod said during a CNN appearance Tuesday that Walz “ended strong” but agreed that Walz’s opening was weak.

Newsweek Readers were also torn about who won the debate. Some readers found Vance to be “honest, very confident, and extremely professional,” while others viewed him as “an election denier and a person who only selectively cares about freedom and democracy.”

Similarly, some readers found Walz to be “more experienced in politics and his arguments were solid,” while others viewed him as “nervous and nervous.” [he] fumbled throughout.

Walz and Vance were contacted via email after hours for comment.

It is unclear whether this debate will have any impact on the presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Vance did not say what he did after the debate. However, he has posted several clips of himself debating immigration, housing and the cost of living.
