With big discounts: Amazon launches new Fire HD 8 with higher performance and improved camera

Amazon is now offering a new version of the Fire HD 8, which we have already tested. The big change: According to the manufacturer, the tablet now has 50 percent more RAM and should therefore offer higher performance. The model is offered in two versions, namely one with a 3 gigabyte RAM and an internal memory of 32 gigabytes and with a RAM with a capacity of 4 gigabytes and twice as large internal memory. Storage expansion is supported with a microSD memory card.

An 8-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels is still used, the improved rear camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels, and the front camera has a resolution of 2 megapixels. The 6.9 millimeter thick tablet weighs 337 grams and can be charged with 15 watts in less than 2.5 hours – the battery life is said to be up to 13 hours. WiFi is supported – but currently not WiFi 802.11 ax. There is no version with a cellular modem. A 3.5 millimeter jack connection is installed and speakers are available.

The tablet will also be available in kids versions. These come with a protective case with different looks. Probably quite interesting for parents: A 2-year worry-free guarantee is advertised in the price and promises easy replacement in the event of self-inflicted damage that is not covered by statutory liability for material defects. The Fire HD 8 will be available from 115 euros, the Fire HD 8 Kids will cost 160 euros or 170 euros for the tablet with a princess-design case. The Fire HD 8 Kids Pro is also regularly available for 160 euros and with a Marvel case for 10 euros more, but the kids versions are currently available for introductory prices starting at 85 euros.
