Daniel Day-Lewis is supposed to be filming again

Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis (67) is supposed to film again after a year-long break. The actor will take on a role in his son Ronan Day-Lewis’ feature film directorial, production company Focus Features announced. Written by both of them, the film Anemone explores the complex relationships between fathers, sons and brothers and family dynamics.

Seven years ago, Daniel Day-Lewis announced that he wanted to retire from acting. “Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer work as an actor,” a spokeswoman for the British-Irish star said at the time.

By then he had already won three Oscars for Best Actor and thus made film history. He was honored for his acting performance in the dark drama “There Will Be Blood”, in the historical film “Lincoln” about US President Abraham Lincoln and in the drama “My Left Foot”.

He is also known for The Last of the Mohicans, Gangs of New York, The Silk Thread and The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Day-Lewis is married to filmmaker Rebecca Miller, the daughter of US author Arthur Miller, and has also been honored by the British royal family in the past.
