As the Chemnitz public prosecutor announced on Wednesday, after the investigation was completed, charges of joint murder were brought against the widow, one of her employees and her friends.

“You are accused of having killed the Chemnitz cardiologist Klaus K. on March 10, 2024 in his apartment in Chemnitz with multiple knife stabs and blunt force trauma to the head based on a joint crime plan,” said the public prosecutor.

And further: “The accused did this insidiously and out of greed, as they knew that the doctor did not expect an attack in the late hours of the night and that they wanted to gain financial advantage through his death.”

So far, the accused have denied the allegations.

“However, this is based – in addition to other evidence – on the traces secured at the crime scene, the items secured from the accused and the results of the evaluation of various cell phones and laptops,” a spokeswoman continued.

The accused, who remain in custody, therefore face a life sentence if convicted. A main hearing date before the Chemnitz Regional Court has not yet been scheduled.
