Amanda Bynes Announces Major News in Extremely Rare Life Update

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Amanda Bynes gave fans a super rare update on her life with her exciting new announcement.

The former Nickelodeon star, 38, took to Instagram on Wednesday, October 2, to share a huge step in her fashion career — a collaboration with designer Asspizza (real name: Austin Babbitt) that features her original designs on the brand’s apparel.

“My associate’s of art degree majoring in product development at FIDM paid off,” Bynes, who graduated from California’s Fashion institute of Design and Merchandising in 2019, wrote over a screenshot from the fashion designer’s site showing off the items in the collection.

The Amanda Bynes x Asspizza collab is made up of two basics that each contain different placements of the same designs.

The first piece is a cotton T-shirt that features the Asspizza logo on the front pocket and what appears to be a line drawing of a minimalist cartoon version of Bynes — or at least, a long-haired woman who resembles her — on the back . The top comes in two colors: a white tee with the graphics in black, or a black tee with the graphics in white. The top, which retails for $60, is available in sizes XS to 2XL.

The second piece of clothing is a pair of baggy cotton shorts featuring the same designs — this time, with the cartoons slightly overlapping. The shorts come in white with red and black graphics, black with blue and white graphics, or black with white and gray graphics. They retail for $100 and are available in sizes XS to 2XL.

The website notes that the artwork was designed by Bynes and Asspizza.

The Amanda Show alum also told People that the collab is a sign of things to come in her career in the fashion and art world, telling the outlet that she is “working on doing a pop-up art show in December” that “will have art and clothing.”

Bynes’ major career update is a proud moment in the life of the All that alum, who announced her retirement from acting in 2010 and has dealt with severe mental health struggles in the public eye over the past decade.
