Microsoft Office 2024 for private users is here – no subscription required. Prices and scope

The wait is over: From now on, Microsoft Office users who don’t feel like paying a regular subscription can buy the new Microsoft Office 2024 for a one-off payment and without any follow-up costs; Microsoft announced this in a blog post. Microsoft Office 2024 for private users and small companies costs from 149 euros.

Without Outlook

Microsoft Office 2024 in the Office Home 2024 variant, as usual, contains the updated versions of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Onenote and costs 149 euros. It can be on one Windows PC (with Windows 10 or Windows 11) or Mac and is compatible with Teams, but you have to install it separately.

Microsoft describes the difference between the Microsoft 365 subscription version favored by Microsoft and the one-time purchase version Office Home 2024 as follows:

Microsoft 365 is a subscription that includes premium applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access (Publisher and Access are only available on PC). The apps can be installed on various devices including PCs, Macs, iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and Android smartphones. Microsoft 365 offers other services such as 1 TB of OneDrive storage, 60 Skype minutes per month, and Microsoft support via chat and phone. With a subscription you will automatically have the latest versions of the apps as soon as updates are available.

With a one-time purchase of Office 2024, you get classic apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for PC or Mac, but without the services included in the Microsoft 365 subscription. No upgrade option is included for a one-time purchase. If you plan to upgrade to the next major version, you must purchase it at full price.

With Outlook

There is also Microsoft Office 2024 in the Office Home & Business version for 299 euros. In addition to the programs mentioned above, it also contains Outlook.

The main difference to Microsoft 365 is that you will receive security updates for Microsoft Office 2024 during the support period, but no new functions.

Innovations

Microsoft promises improved performance, updated user interfaces and more tools for data analysis and embedding images in Excel, as well as support for new features of the OpenDocument ODF 1.4 standard.

Microsoft Office 2024 is not currently available on Amazon. It’s better to wait a few days or weeks before purchasing. Microsoft Office LTSC 2024

For larger companies, Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 (with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, OneNote, Microsoft Access) has been available since September 18, 2024 for a one-time payment and without a subscription requirement. Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 is expressly aimed at use in companies and is not intended for private users – they must use Microsoft Office 2024 described above.
