One UI 7 hands-on videos reveal all iPhone-inspired design changes

Key insights

  • One UI 7 hands-on videos from Samsung’s developer conference show the redesigned camera app and other UI changes.
  • Samsung takes inspiration from iOS 18 for One UI 7’s notifications and quick settings panel.
  • A beta version of UI 7 should go live before the end of the year, and a stable version will be available next year.

Leaks surrounding Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7 skin began appearing back in July 2024. The One UI 7 beta program was rumored to go live in August, but that didn’t happen. At its annual developer conference, Samsung announced that a stable One UI 7 build won’t arrive alongside the Galaxy S25 series until early 2025, with a beta to follow later in the year. There was also talk about One UI 7’s new design philosophy, but no design changes were officially unveiled. Luckily, some hands-on videos from the events have surfaced online, showing off the UI changes.

A short hands-on video from SamMobile of a Galaxy S24 Ultra with One UI 7 at the Samsung Developer Conference shows the iPhone-inspired notification panel design with rounded corners. Another handy video shows the revamped camera app with updated and clearer icons. The layout also seems to be optimized for one-handed operation.

A separate and more detailed video from YouTuber Jeff Springer shows the Finder search bar moving to the bottom of One UI 7’s app drawer. This change is consistent with the skin’s focus on one-handed use. The Recent Apps screen will also see some design changes, with smooth new animations.

Towards the end of the video, you can see the new Quick Settings panel, which appears to be inspired by iOS 18’s revamped Control Center. As per previous leaks, Samsung will reportedly separate the notification and quick settings panels like on the iPhone and some Chinese Android skins from Xiaomi and Vivo.

Like the iPhone, swiping from the top right corner of the screen in One UI 7 brings up the quick settings panel. You need to swipe down from the left side of the screen to access the notification panel.

One UI 7 seems to be a big upgrade

From the videos above, you can see that One UI 7 will use smoother new system animations for a smoother experience. Many system icons also have a revamped, cleaner look.

It looks like Samsung is massively revamping its Android skin with One UI 7. This explains why the company hasn’t started a beta program for its next Android skin and why the stable version won’t be released until early next year.

Based on all the changes leaked and revealed in the videos, the wait could be worth it as One UI 7 promises a radically better experience.
