Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet revised: Better technology at a bargain price

Amazon has revised its 8-inch Fire HD 8 tablet. In addition to a powerful camera, the device has received other improvements.

The mail order company Amazon has improved its inexpensive Fire HD 8 tablet. According to a statement from the company, the device now features an improved 5-megapixel rear camera. The previous model from 2020 had a 2-megapixel camera installed.

In addition, Amazon says it has doubled the main memory (RAM). Games in particular should benefit from this. The company offers buyers two versions: a device with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage or one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The remaining components are unchanged compared to the previous model. The Fire HD 8 also has an 8-inch HD display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels, which is made of reinforced aluminum silicate glass.

MediaTek’s hexa-core processor is also the same as the previous version. The battery life also remains the same at up to 13 hours. Nothing has changed in terms of ports – USB-C charging port, microSD slot for external storage and a headphone jack.

The Fire HD 8 is available from Amazon starting at 114.99 euros in the colors black, emerald and hibiscus. The device is available now.

The revised Fire HD 8 Kids and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro tablets are also available now – for an introductory price starting at 84.99 euros, Amazon says. The devices come with a child-proof case and a “2-year worry-free guarantee”. This is supposed to work if the tablet breaks when dropped. Amazon promises a replacement for the defective device.

The Fire HD 8 Kids is designed for preschool children. Parents with children of elementary school age and older should choose the Fire HD 8 Kids Pro, which offers an expanded selection of age-appropriate apps and content.
