Amazon presented new hardware shortly before the “Prime Deal Days” that begin on Tuesday. The affordable “Fire HD 8” tablets are now available in a revised version and the two versions optimized for children have been reduced in price by 44 percent.

In the latest generation, the “Fire HD 8” tablets with 3 GB have more than twice as much RAM on board as their previous generation, which should ensure higher performance when streaming, gaming, web surfing and using apps. Amazon has also upgraded the integrated rear camera; there is now a model with 5 megapixels on board. The battery life of the new models is stated to be up to 13 hours.

In the standard version of the Fire HD 8 you can choose between 32 GB and 64 GB of integrated storage. You can also expand the storage space by up to 1 TB using a micro SD card.

Fire HD 8 for kids

Amazon also offers the Fire HD 8 in two versions specifically tailored to children. The Fire HD 8 Kids variant is aimed at preschool children and the Fire HD 8 Kids Pro model is intended for children of primary school age and above.

Both models are now also equipped with more RAM and Amazon Kids+ is included for one year when you buy one of the children’s tablets. The digital media library for children normally costs 4.99 euros per month. Amazon’s children’s devices also come with a 2-year worry-free guarantee. If the device falls down or is otherwise defective, Amazon will simply replace it.

The new kids versions of the Fire HD 8 come with cases in various designs, including Disney princesses and the Marvel Avengers.
