Only eight teams left! Billie Jean King Cup with a new format

Starting next year, the Billie Jean King Cup will be held with eight teams instead of the previous twelve.

As the International Tennis Federation ITF announced on Friday, it is based on the men’s Davis Cup in order to “bring the two competitions closer together”. The qualification will take place in April 2025 in seven groups of three, with the group winners and the moderators forming the final field.

The Billie Jean King Cup will be held for the 61st time from November 12th to 17th, 2024, and the defending champion Canada is already in the quarterfinals as the top seeded nation. The same applies to the Czech Republic (2), Australia (3) and Italy (4). Also taking part are Germany, Great Britain, Slovakia, the USA, Spain, Poland, Japan and Romania.
